Manchester Terrier

The Manchester Terrier came about in the Manchester, England area in the 1800s. Crossed with a whippet and a hunter of rabbits and rats, the black and tan terrier - the Manchester Terrier was became a distinct Manchester type.  AKC

Recognized in 1959 by AKC, and have since been recognized as 2 varieties within the same breed and can be interbred.  The Manchester Terrier comes in two types - the standard and the miniature. The Standard Manchester is shown in the Terrier group and the Toy is shown in the Toy group.
